Description
A blanket of clouds catches the last colorful light of the day as the sun sets over the Susquehanna River. This rocky wonderland can be found just downstream of the Holtwood Dam on the river's west bank near Airville, PA.
This area of the Susquehanna Greenway is accessible via the Mason Dixon Trail which offers access to the massive slate formations, dramatic reflective pools and abundant wildlife along the exposed riverbed.
The Mason-Dixon Trail connects the Appalachian Trail with the Brandywine Trail. This 200 mile long trail starts at Whiskey Springs in Cumberland County, PA and at Chadds Ford, PA on the banks of the Brandywine River. Approximately 45 miles of the trail runs along the Susquehanna river between the Wrightsville Bridge in York County, PA and Havre de Grace MD
