Description
This grist mill featured in this nighttime photo is located on the east side of Stone Mountain in Stone Mountain Park, near Atlanta, Georgia. Originally built in 1869 near Ellijay Georgia, this grist mill served that area for nearly 100 years. Found abandoned on a north Georgia stream, it was carefully disassembled and reconstructed in its present location in 1965. https://stonemountainguide.com/Grist-Mill.html
Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock and the site of Stone Mountain Park, 16 miles (26 km) east of Atlanta, Georgia. Stone Mountain features the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world, the Confederate Memorial Carving depicts three Confederate leaders of the Civil War: President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson (on their favorite horses, Blackjack, Traveller, and Little Sorrel, respectively).
