Description
This scene features Vickery Creek as it runs through Old Mill Park in Roswell, Georgia. The overhead pedestrian bridge connects the Roswell trails to the Chattahoochee River National Park trail on the opposite side of Vickery Creek. The ruins of two textile mills of the Roswell Manufacturing Company are located in the Old Mill Park. With construction completed in 1839 and 1853, the waterfall supported the mills as they supplied a variety of products for the growing town of Roswell. Destroyed by the Union Army during the Civil War, the mills were subsequently rebuilt and served their community until 1926 when they were destroyed by fire. The building pictured to the left is part of the mill that was rebuilt in 1882.
