Description
This scene features Vickery Creek Falls as a brilliant summer day fades into evening. The waterfall is a historic spillway dam that was once used to power the equipment of textile mills that were located on this site. The falls and remnants of the original mill are accessible via Old Mill Park in Roswell, Georgia.
The ruins of two textile mills of the Roswell Manufacturing Company are located in the Old Mill Park. With construction completed in 1839 and 1853, the waterfall supported the mills as they supplied a variety of products for the growing town of Roswell. Destroyed by the Union Army during the Civil War, the mills were subsequently rebuilt and served their community until 1926 when they were destroyed by fire.
