This scene features Vickery Creek as it runs through Old Mill Park in Roswell, Georgia. The silky smooth texture of the water was achieved with a 30 sec. exposure as the light began to fade in the late hours of a cold winter afternoon. An f/4 aperture was used to capture the foreground detail and the blurred background. The ruins of two textile mills of the Roswell Manufacturing Company are located in the Old Mill Park. With construction of the mills completed in 1839 and 1853, the Vickery Creek waterfall, just upstream, supported the mills as they supplied a variety of products for the growing town of Roswell. Destroyed by the Union Army during the Civil War, the mills were subsequently rebuilt and served their community until 1926 when they were destroyed by fire. The building pictured to the left is part of the mill that was rebuilt in 1882.

I am a native Texan, living in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country with a love for the West Texas desert, the rolling hills of Central PA, and everything in between. A childhood love of picture taking grew into a passion for photography during my years serving on a submarine, where photos were my windows to the outside world.
